Ready to take part in the birth of new theatrical works?

An artist needs paint to create a painting. Playwrights need actors as their medium to bring their art to life. This page will serve as a talent pool for playwrights to find actors willing to do unpaid readings of their works in progress. These readings could lead to paid opportunities in the New Play Festival and beyond.  Other companies in town are also welcome to use this page to find local talent for other productions.

ZINK is an actor with “gobs” of stage time. His career spans over six decades. He is available for table reads, staged readings, workshop readings and full productions. No role is too small or too big for him to handle. Most of his performance experience has been pro-bono, but some were paid gigs. As a 74 year young actor/singer, ZINK got his first role as a ten year-old in the sixth grade playing the male title role in Hanzel and Gretyl. Some of his most memorable roles include Otto Frank in “Diary of Anne Frank”, Roy Cohn in “Angels in America”, Oscar Wilde in “A Man of No Importance”, Rev. Shaw Moore in “Footloose”, Fagin in “Oliver”, Dodge in “Buried Child”, Dale Harding in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, Gaston in “Picasso at the Lapin Agile”, Jesus in “The Passion Play”, and most recently, Santa in “Elf, the Musical” with Arts Express Theater. ZINK’S adaptive facial expressions (and creative make-up) make ZINK a man of a thousand faces. An elderly gay man himself, ZINK has written several plays with gay themes and/or characters. Two full length plays, “Ripples”; a fictional telling of a 1976 real-life event in Tucson and “His Father’s Son” a farce about stolen sperm, are still in workshop mode seeking producers willing to mount full stage productions. ZINK coordinated Old Pueblo Playwrights New Play Festivals in 2022 and 2023, and is currently Secretary of Old Pueblo Playwrights. As such, he would like to remind you that the “Old” in OPP refers to our fair city, not a required age for members. OPP always welcomes playwrights of all ages to join us as we workshop each other’s plays.
